Volunteer grants available

United Way project

— The North Country Regional Volunteer Center located at the United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc. will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, Jan. 21, by promoting volunteerism throughout Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.

The North Country Regional Volunteer Center is offering seven mini-grants worth up to $300. The mini-grants will be awarded to non-profit agencies, organizations and groups with the purpose of doing projects that use volunteers to complete the task at hand. There must be a clear benefit to the community at large, a non-profit organization or a person affected by an adverse situation.

One agency/group from each county will be awarded a mini-grant. If there is no application from one of the seven counties the award will be given to an agency in another county.

Organizations interested in applying can do online at www.unitedwayadk.org, call 563-0028 or email Larry Pickreign at Larry@unitedwayadk.org.

The application deadline is Jan. 11.
