Clintonville The AuSable Valley Patriots swept the top spot in the Class C sectional playoff brackets released Feb. 17, while the Elizabethtown-Lewis Lady Lions will be the top seed in Class D.
In the boys tournament, the Patriots (12-3) will play in a semifinal round game against Seton Catholic Friday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Plattsburgh High School. The winner plays in the sectional finals at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Saturday, March 2 at 1:45 p.m.
In Class D, the Schroon Lake Wildcats took the top seed, followed by the Moriah Vikings. Elizabethtown Lewis (13-5) earned the third seed.
While holding wins against sixth seed Indian Lake/Long Lake and fourth seed Crown Point, the Westport Eagles (10-7) were unable to turn those wins into seeding advantage, receiving the eighth seed despite a strong finish to the regular season. They will host Willsboro (7-11) in a first round game Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m.
Keene (2-15) will also play Feb. 20, traveling to Chazy for an opening round matchup as the 12th seed.
Quarterfinal games will be played Friday, Feb. 22, at the higher seed. Semifinals will take place Wednesday, Feb. 27, at AuSable Valley Central School, while the sectional finals will be at the PSUC Fieldhouse Saturday, March 2, at noon.
In the girls tournament, the Lady Patriots (16-2) will play the winner of the lone quarterfinal game between Lake Placid and Ticonderoga Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Beekmantown High School. The winner plays for the Class C title Friday, March 1, at 5:45 p.m. at the PSUC Fieldhouse.
In Class D, the Lady Lions (17-1) will receive a bye into the semifinal round and will meet the winner of the quarterfinal game between fifth seed Minerva/Newcomb and Fourth seed Keene (13-4) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at AuSable Valley High School. The game between the Mountaineers and Beavers takes place Friday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m.
Willsboro (9-9) earned the sixth seed in the tournament and will travel to Moriah for a 6 p.m. tip Feb. 22. Seventh seed Westport (8-10) will also travel for a first round game Feb. 22, as they will face Indian Lake/Long Lake at 6 p.m.
Semifinal winners will meet for the sectional championship Friday, March 1, at 4 p.m. at the PSUC Fieldhouse.
