Annual event June 30
The ninth annual Crown Point Strawberry Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever. The event, sponsored by the First Congregational Church, will be held in the town park Sunday, June 30, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
More than great food was cooking at the area’s first-ever Taste of Home Cooking School sponsored by the Valley News June 1 at the EMA in Ticonderoga.
Registration night June 24
Ticonderoga will have a youth recreation program this summer. The program, which served about 200 children each year, was victim of budget cuts a year ago. The 2013 program will be self-sufficient, according to Dave Iuliano, Ti trustee. It will not cost local taxpayers.
Ribbon cutting June 5
The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, June 5, at 4:30 p.m. as part of The Crab Shack grand opening celebration.
Students to shop for food
The Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership recently received a grant for $750 from the Stewarts Holiday Match Program.
Mission statement adopted
A group working to create a community food co-op in Ticonderoga has adopted a mission statement and plans to formalize committees. The group will meet again Monday, April 29, at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Gallery on Montcalm Street. Meetings are open to all interested people.

A Schroon Lake student will serve a dinner as she raises money for a trip to Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.

Chili cook off Feb. 23
There may be a five-alarm fire in Schroon Lake Feb. 23, but it won’t be an emergency. That’s when the second annual Schroon Lake Chili Cook Off will be held to benefit the community’s emergency services. The cook off will be 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club.
Volunteers being sought
Thanksgiving dinner will again be served in Ticonderoga. The fourth annual “Miracle on Montcalm Street — Adirondack Dinner Table” will be shared Thanksgiving day noon to 2 p.m. at the Ticonderoga fire house.
